Something You Didn’t Know About Me

Alright fellow readers, here is a small fact about me that I am sure you didn’t know. I am a gamer. I started playing AD&D when I was younger (my brothers loved it and got me started). I never quite got into videos games like Halo and such but there is one game that my husband introduced me to way before the triplets: Guild Wars (online computer game).

I loved it! We would play together all the time and it was really fun. It also gave us other stuff to talk about. When I got pregnant with the triplets, needless to say I dropped out of all that for awhile. Now they are releasing Guild Wars 2 (hopefully some time soon). We are super excited! We won’t get to play during daytime hours for obvious reasons, but when the kids go to bed I will have to sacrifice some sleep 🙂 There is one thing about gaming that bugs me though… The perception that a lot of people give it. I hear some people say things like “That’s for kids”  “There are a lot better ways to spend your time”  “Adult gamers need to grow up.”  Why? There are a lot of good things that come from gaming. Hand- eye coordination, strategic thinking, multi- tasking, and it is a great stress reliever just to name a few. Also it is a lot better then sitting around watching TV which many people do. Also if you do it with your significant other it also gives you more to talk about, something fun to do together, and just another thing to bring you closer.  My husband, as well as many other older gamers, struggle with these stigmas and it’s not right. So to everyone out there… I am a gamer and very proud of it. I am proud of what I accomplish in my games. I find it to be one of the best stress relievers for me and really fun. Does it rule my life? No.  Does it affect what kind of parent I am? No.  Does it affect what kind of person I am? No.  I am a great mom and wife (so my family tells me). To all the Guild Wars people out there: I’ll see you in GW2!
