Looking Back

Michael and I were looking at old videos of the kids last night while getting things ready to upload to our new youtube account (will be available soon). I was amazed at how much they have changed just in the last 6-7 months. It really took me back when we looked at some from the hospital. You can get so caught up in the “now” that sometimes you forget how far they have come in just a short time. I, as a mom, and especially as a mom of multiples, worry about so much. Are their verbal skills improving and where they should be, are they learning everything they need to, are they getting enough stimulation for development.

I remember being so overly worried bout belly time when they were 2-3 months old. Everyone kept stressing how important it was and my kids absolutely hated it so we didn’t do it as much. I was worried that it would put them behind, but then they were walking at 11 months. It seemed so huge then but now it just seems silly to be so stressed about it. One thing I have learned through all of this, don’t stress so much. Try to be the best parent you can be, give them opportunities to try and test new skills, but don’t stress so much if they don’t get it or like it. They will eventually “get it”. On a different note… Miche will be starting college classes in January! I can not believe it. We have decided to start her in the community college near our home (since she is still pretty young) for the first year or so. Then she can transfer to one of the larger colleges to finish her degree. She is still wanting to do visual art/ photography, which I think she will be really happy with and she is very good at. I hope that when she does transfer it will be a college somewhat close to us but I guess we’ll see in a year or two. She laughs and says that I’ll have “empty nest” syndrome when all the kids grow up and leave. I don’t think so. I have spent almost my whole life raising kids and am looking forward to just being Michael and I. Also since the kids are so spread out I am sure I will have grandchildren by the time the triplets are heading to college LOL. It’s funny how everyone has a different take on that. **I will do a potty training update later tonight going over yesterday and today.
