Trip to Grandparents House
Michael’s parents hadn’t seen the kids in quite awhile because they live about 3 1/2 hours away. So this past weekend we packed up the brood and headed south. It took about 6 hours to get everything together and packed in the car. It never used to take long to get ready and jet off, but now with the triplets it seems to take forever.
Partly because I had to do some of their laundry, but mostly it was just figuring out what to pack and breaking down their stuff (like their rocking chairs, play mat, and so on). Since they aren’t crawling yet we just packed their floor mats and heavy blankets (woobies) to make beds on the floor for them. It worked out really well. The trip down wasn’t too bad but we still had to stop and feed a little over half way through. That can be a little crazy trying to find a place, stop, and take the hour or so to feed everyone. Criton is just like his dad in the aspect that he does not like long car trips. He gets fussy and I think he feels cramped in his car seat. That doesn’t really surprise me though since they are quickly outgrowing them. They weigh about 15lbs, 16lbs, and 17lbs now (funny how they have stretched to about a pound difference). Hopefully he will like it better when they are upgraded to the larger adjustable seats. The weekend was great though. It was really nice to see the kids with their grandparents. I think it is really important for them to have that grandchild/ grandparent bond and for them to spend a lot of time together. When I was talking with Miche she fully agreed. She saw her grandparents all the time when she was little and said it was an important experience in her life. The hard part right now is that we live so far apart. It is hard for them to make the trip to us, and it can be crazy trying to make that long of a trip with the kids. So we are currently trying to figure out how to sell our house here quickly and move back down south. The market is still sluggish here and we have seen houses up for sale in the neighborhood for 3-6 months so far. Hopefully we will figure something out before the end of the summer. All in all it was a great weekend. I can’t wait till 4th of July when we take the kids to the lake!
