Teething Nightmares

Well I have been saying for days now that the kids are teething. The drool reminds me of Hooch in the movie Turner and Hooch (for those of you that have never seen this movie…it is a must). Today was exceptionally horrible though.

The drool was bad enough to warrant wearing bibs, they were all cranky (especially Caitlin), and chewing on everything… their clothing, my clothing, hair, fists, bottle, pacifiers, teething rings, basically anything they could get their hands on. They were also extremely fussy and at times almost inconsolable. It really breaks my heart when they get like that. I want so much to just fix the problem and make them happy, but I can’t with this. It is just something they have to go through. They are only three months old. I thought I had at least another month or two, but no, Caitlin has her first tooth sprouting up now and I am sure Criton has one not too far behind. I haven’t checked Haley’s mouth yet but with they way she has been chewing her fists all day long it would not surprise me. At bedtime, Caitlin was just in a hissy fit so Michael took her and massaged her gum where the tooth is coming. He said she looked at him like “Oh thank you!” and then went to sleep. I feel so bad for them. I suppose it is time to try the oragel again. It never worked for my other kids but who knows, maybe these guys will surprise me. I will let you all know how it goes. For now, it is time to try and get some rest… I have a feeling it is going to be a longer night then usual. Also, for those who have been following the swaddle experiment. We are on night three without swaddles and night two of no boppys. So far it isn’t too bad. The first night they were really restless. Last night was much better. So we will see what tonight brings. We went cold turkey from both items (no weaning) for those who are just now joining us.
